The fishing industry is one of the main commercial activities on Koh Phangan and as such there are plenty of opportunities for a bit of fishing whilst on holiday. There are a few fishing tours that can be taken with local operating boat companies. These can be full day to just a few hours depending on the water conditions and type of fishing. Big game fishing is available and normally requires a full day trip to go and and find the fish, usually using sonar detection.

It possible to buy a inexpensive fishing rod and get bait from the local fish yards or the markets. The proffered bait is squid, normally small squid and is cut into smaller pieces and used as bait.
