The Full Moon party on Koh Phangan draws party goers from all over the world with its unique setting and theme, a hard mix of house, techno and drum and bass sets are spun out to the dancing crowds on Haad Rin beach as the sun dawns on Koh Phangan.
It all started at Paradise Bungalows over twenty years ago when only a few hundred attended the party, it has since grown to attract up to ten thousand. Clubs such as the Backyard, Drop In, Vinyl and Catctus have all added to the music scene with international guest Djs pumping out some cracking anthems.
The party doesnt get going until about two oclock in the morning when the best DJs start to play and many people dont arrive before midnight as the party can last well into the next day.
Care should be taken at this event as accidents can happen with so many people having such a good time. It is advisable not to bring any bags or even wallets just carry some cash in your pockets, sandals or flip flops with a thick sole can save a visit to the hospital after wrong footing on a shattered beer bottle and watch out for uncovered water wells they can be surprisingly deep and dark.
Either side of this party Haad Rin becomes a very busy place on Koh Phangan and accommodation is often difficult to find, reservations are definitely recommended. If you intend on arriving the day before look for accommodation on the west coast of Koh Phangan as there will be more availability.
