The Geography of Haad Salad Bay

The bay is surrounded on the north, south and east sides by large granite escarpments that underpin the jungle mountain terrain that engulfs the bay. The beach is approximately seven hundred meters long.

The climate is split into two seasons, hot and dry and hot and wet. Its hot all year round with the winter months of November through to Febuary being slightly cooler. The monsoon season can come twice, in either April, May or June and the other more predictable and larger monsoon around November.

Daylight hours are between 0630 and 1930 with the sun setting at around seven o'clock due to Haad Salad facing west the sunset can be enjoyed each evening as it drops down over the water at certain times of the year. In the early months the sun drops down below the granite headland but can still be seen from some of the accommodation at the talaytong resort.

There are two main roads running up the West coast from Thong Sala, one follows the coastline and a second passes more inland. Both take around the same time, the government road then goes down to the beach. A further road runs down through the village and down to the beach. To get to the talaytong resort follow either road up to Haad Salad then take the back ring road that climbs to the middle hillside setting over looking the beach.
