leam son lake, seethanu, koh phangan

Located near the village of seethanu the small lake of leam son has been on the tourist maps for years as a place to come and enjoy. However as the lake is an old tin mine and very deep it is not advisable to swim in the lake. The area has recently taken on an ever growing collection of lake side restaurants offering a place to sit, have a drink or bite to eat and take in the view.

leam son lake, former tin min

The lake was formed when an underground seam of water was hit when it was being used as a tin mine. The lake is only a few hundred yards from the beach and because of the mining the sand is very fine on seethanu beach from the discharge from the former mine.

One of the Yoga Schools on Phangan is located at the beach end of the lake, the agama yoga center, ao choapha. It is possible to walk around the lakes edge, around the yoga school and pooping out on the headland between Seethanu beach and pier and Ao ChaoPha Beach.

The lake also serves as a good landmark when traveling in a rental bike or car if its on the right it means your position is between Ao ChoaPha and Seethanu
