Haad Salad, the pirates bay

Haad Salad is located up on the west coast of Koh Phangan between Haad Yoa and Maehaad, and looks west over the water to Koh Toa. Talaytong rental villas are located in a hillside setting in the bay of Haad Salad, the beach is easily accessible from the villas by car or bike, which is essential when staying at the villas. Snorkel, kayak and small boat rental is available on the beach and there are a few recommended restaurants to choice for lunch or dinner.

The picturesque bay of Haad Salad is around seven hundred meters wide and is flanked by two headlands that jut out enclosing the shallow waters within the bay. The beach is around fifteen meters wide and the white soft sands run into the waters where the depth stays around one to two meters for the first one hundred yards. Afterwards the reef separates the bay from the deeper waters outside. The Gulf of Thailand is shallow and even a few hundred meters from the shoreline the depth rarely exceeds fifteen meters.

The reef coral formations are active and make good snorkeling conditions being located within the bay, the water protected but the two headlands either side. It is possible to see barracuda but normally the most visible large fish is Marlin. Other tropical fish are in impudence and its possible to see squid when snorkeling as well.
